Re-inventing our thoughts around hydrogen
Maybe it’s uncomfortable for people to sort of "wrap their heads around" the thought of hydrogen actually being that "perfect fuel". It has, after all, only really been utilized in industries and for products that we don’t generally pay much attention to in the way they were brought to the shelves perse.
Hydrogen also got a bad rap in 1937…1937! when it was mistakenly accused of a catastrophy it didn’t commit, thereby eclipsing what may have had the ability to save us all a lot of time and energy…literally.

But as history goes, we learn, we grow and we discover, and sometimes re-discover ways to fundamentally enhance our existence here on planet Earth.
And sometimes, urban science does what institutional science wants to, but then gets stuck in sticky tape.

In August of this year (2009), the Italian company ENEL powered up their hydrogen powered plant in Fusina. Yes, it burns hydrogen cleanly, producing no CO2.

This is obviously and definately a step in the right direction for a cleaner and more prosperous planet, but more still needs to be done. The hydrogen that is being burned comes from a nearby petrochemicals plant creating CO2 in its processes and then also hydrogen as a bi-product. This hydrogen is "thankfully" piped to the hydrogen plant where it becomes a clean fuel.
So what’s next?
Clean and cost effective production of both hydrogen and electricity.
What’s next is a clean planet with healthy, conscientious inhabitants.
